Mission Statement

Capital Tutor Inc. is an established, Ottawa-based tutoring company that exists to serve the unique academic needs and learning styles of our students. We are committed to creating and maintaining a trusting and caring environment where students are assisted as they enhance both academic and organizational skills as well as develop a positive attitude towards learning. All aspects of Capital Tutor Inc. are student-centred. Our tutors actively work together with the learner and the parents in supporting and empowering the student to experience success in learning.

The Team

Yael Lewis - B.Ed., M.Ed., Director
Yael is an experienced and knowledgeable educator with specializations in both assessing and meeting the needs of her students. With teaching experience in both the Toronto and Ottawa areas, as well as a Masters of Education degree in the concentration of teaching and learning, Yael understands the needs of a learner. She uses her experience and training to find the best tutors and to match the perfect tutor for each unique client. Yael directs the daily operations of Capital Tutor Inc. and continually achieves excellence in customer satisfaction and the academic success of each student.

 

Dr. Evan Lewis - B.Sc., M.D., Educational Consultant
Evan is the original founder and operator of a successful tutoring company in Toronto and is happy to join the Capital Tutor team in Ottawa. As a resident in pediatric neurology at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Evan’s expertise in the field of children and their development is an asset to the company. Evan continues to consult on an educational and administrative level while he develops new and successful programs that contribute to the successes of Capital Tutor’s students.

What We Offer

In the Comfort of Your Home
Learning is best achieved when the learner is in a comfortable environment. There is no place like home so our tutors come directly to you! This also allows our tutors to help their students set up work areas that are appropriate for learning to take place.

Highly Qualified Tutors

• Tutors are screened in a thorough interview process by Yael Lewis, director of Capital Tutor Inc.
• Tutors are extremely qualified in their subject areas with varying degrees of experience.
• Tutors are up to date with the Ontario Curriculum and continuously consult with ministry guidelines.
• Tutors are exceptionally responsible and will arrive on time and prepared to maximize each tutoring session.
• Tutors will maintain communication between student, parent, and the Capital Tutor administrative team.
• Tutors are enthusiastic and committed to reaching the goals set by the student and parent.

One-on-One Tutoring

• Tutors will complete an initial student assessment to determine the students’ specific needs.
• Tutors will plan individual programs (personal education plan) for the specific needs and goals of their students.
